After yet another miserable second round exit from our Philadelphia 76ers, the entire world of sports in the city of Brotherly Love has shifted over to the Philadelphia Phillies and honestly, it couldn’t have come at worse time.

The Phillies are playing bad baseball. There’s really no other way to describe it through the first 50 games of the 2023 MLB season. Starting pitching has been rough. Fielding has been subpar. Cold streaks at the plate with long droughts of knocking home runners in scoring position.

You name it. It’s all bad.

The Phillies are currently 23-26 on the season and seven games out of first place in the National League East standings.

Yesterday, the narrowly avoided getting swept by the Arizona Diamondbacks at home, thanks to a two-out, two-run home run from the struggling Trea Turner to send the game into extras. Alec Bohm was the final hero, lifting the Phillies to a 6-5 win after falling behind by five runs earlier in the game.

The Phillies will now hit the road for the next 11 games..

Over the next two weeks, the Phillies will either have everyone in the city of Philadelphia on life support or they’ll find themselves in the midst of a heated NL East battle for first place. (Lord help us!)

Does D-Jax have one more run in him? The former Eagles’ wide receiver recently talked about joining a Super Bowl contender for one last chance at a championship. Philly could be the place.

Nikola Jokic: Embiid deserved to win MVP

Respect for Jokic here. He took the podium after the Nuggets swept the Los Angeles Lakers to advance to the NBA Finals and fielded questions about the NBA MVP Award. Jokic responded saying that Embiid was incredible this year and that he deserved to win the award.

That of course, is a lot easier to admit when you’re going to the finals while the Sixers are all in Cancun after a miserable second round playoff exit but it’s still NICE to say, right?!
