Another One Bites the Dust: Eagles OC Search Loses Yet Another Candidate

Philly’s coordinator hunt keeps dragging on, and the list just keeps getting shorter.

The Chase continues. Another day, another wrinkle in the Eagles’ offensive coordinator search. As this thing drags into week three, Chicago Bears OC Declan Doyle officially pulled his name from consideration, thinning out a candidate pool that already feels uncomfortably small. It’s not hard to see why. The job doesn’t exactly scream stability, and any candidate walking through the door knows they’re inheriting an offense that Nick Sirianni is never fully going to let go of.

At the same time, a familiar pattern is starting to emerge. While names quietly bow out, Andy Reid is once again looming over the process. Reid recently went to bat for his former offensive coordinator Matt Nagy, and history tells us that when Reid vouches for someone, the Eagles listen. They did it with Doug Pederson, got dragged for it, and two years later were hoisting a Lombardi. With the search stalling and Reid’s endorsement carrying real weight in this city, it wouldn’t be surprising if this entire saga ends exactly where it always seems to, with another Andy Reid connection landing in Philadelphia.

Let’s get into it.

🌊 THE CURRENTS

  1. REID PUTTING IN A GOOD WORD FOR MATT NAGY. Andy Reid publicly went to bat for Matt Nagy, and history says that matters in Philadelphia. When Reid vouches for someone, the Eagles listen, which makes Nagy a very real candidate to end this drawn-out OC search. » All Things Eagles Here

  2. BADER SIGNS WITH GIANTS. Harrison Bader is heading to San Francisco on a two-year, $20.5 million deal after giving the Phillies exactly what they needed down the stretch: elite defense, energy, and a pulse. His exit is just the latest reminder of an offseason where useful pieces keep leaving while the Phillies keep selling “internal improvement” as a plan. » All Things Phillies Here

  3. EMBIID WANTS HIS NICKNAME BACK. Joel Embiid is confused why he’s no longer introduced as “The Process,” and he’s right to be. The Process isn’t a slogan or a phase that ended, it’s Joel Embiid himself, and as long as he’s still playing at an MVP level in Philly, it’s very much alive. » All Things Sixers Here

  4. WHAT’S TRENDING. DeMarcus Lawrence left Dallas because he knew a Super Bowl wasn’t happening there, and one year later he’s on his way to Super Bowl LX with Seattle. Call it loyalty, call it ambition, but either way, that’s just smart business. » More Trending Topics Here
