The Chase for a championship continues…

Being a Philadelphia sports fan is a gift and a curse.

There is no doubt in my mind that we are the most passionate fanbase in America. Philly fans live, breathe, suffer, and if we’re lucky at times, celebrate every sports season.

The highs are in the heavens. The lows are in the depths of hell.

It never gets easier, even more so when you have lost three championships across three different sports over the last 99 days.

What we’re all feeling is expected. Only fans who are capable of loving their city and sports teams so strongly can also suffer great sorrow.

Sunday was a rough one, but with Jalen Hurts at the helm, the future is bright for the Philadelphia Eagles, while the Phillies and yes, even the Sixers are both primed for championship runs.

The Chase, whether in reference to this newsletter or the quest for a championship, never ends. We have a ton of things to cover today so let’s get into it.

It’s funny how things work out. In 2010, fresh out of West Virginia University, I took your stereotypical office cubicle job right out of college and spent the majority of my work days on Crossing Broad waiting for Kyle Scott to post a new blog about literally anything that was happening in the Philly sports world.

Now, 3-years into The Liberty Line, I had the opportunity to sit down and talk with Kyle and Jason Ziernicki about building TLL with Victor Williams to on the backs of t-shirts, trial & error, and honestly, a ton of luck.

If I told you that Jalen Hurts was going to throw for over 300 yards, rush for over 70 yards, and account for 4 total touchdowns in the Super Bowl and the Eagles would some how lose that game, you’d think I belong in a mental institution.

Phillies Spring Training 🌴

The boys are back. Pitchers and Catchers reported earlier this week and the rest of the Fightins’ will be back in Clearwooder tomorrow.

If you’re looking for a silver lining about making it to whatever sports’ championship, the wait for another league to begin is extremely short.

We have that going for us…I guess.

Remember the Philadelphia 76ers?

As we turn our attention to Spring Training and the Philadelphia 76ers, this seems important to note. Joel Embiid (33.2) ranks 2nd in PPG and James Harden (10.8) ranks 1st in ASG this season.

The Sixers’ duo has a great chance of becoming the first pair of teammates to lead the NBA in PPG and APG since 1981-82 (George Gervin, Johnny Moore with the Spurs).

On a more dark note, here’s the Sixers’ upcoming schedule. We’re about to really find out what this team is over the final stretch of the season. Buckle up.
