The Celtics have an identity and Jaylen Brown stopped fitting it. Mike Gansey noticed, shipped Paul George and a pile of picks to Boston, and handed the Sixers one of their own. Brown is 6-foot-6 with a 7-foot wingspan, one of the strongest non-bigs in the sport, and the exact two-way terror this roster has been missing next to Embiid. Put him on the break with Maxey and VJ Edgecombe and Nick Nurse is going to run teams straight out of the gym. His contract even lines up with Embiid’s, so if the whole thing collapses, the pivot to a rebuild is already built in. It won’t. The Sixers are contenders in the East again, and for once the chaos was on purpose. |
