The Philly “Superfecta”

Phillies, Sixers, Union win, Flyers lose to kickoff a new week

Let’s start off this weekend and congratulate everyone on surviving another winter in Philadelphia. The weather has finally made a turn for the better and The Chase is back this week and a TON of updates to get everyone through the rest of the week.

After a miserable 0-4 start to the 2023 season, the Philadelphia Phillies led by Kyle Schwarber finally got in the win column, beating the New York Yankees 4-1 in the Bronx.

Joel Embiid should have cemented himself as the unanimous NBA MVP after a 52-point masterclass against the Boston Celtics last night in South Philly.

The Philadelphia Union beat Atlas in CONCACAF Champions League play.

And of course, the Philadelphia Flyers lost 4-2 to the St. Louis Blues to push the “Tank Watch” agenda here at The Liberty Line.

That my friends, is a Philly Superfecta

Not exactly sure if that’s the right terminology to describe four wins, but it definitely has something to do with correctly picking the first four finishes in a horse race, so that’s what we’ll go with on this week’s edition of The Chase.

New Liberty Line Merch Shop is LIVE

If you scroll down and go Premium, we’ll send you a newly designed Phillies “Just Ring It” t-shirt for just $1.99 so you can be ready to rock for all 162 games this year. Plus, we have some Sixers playoff merch dropping that you’ll be able to grab at 50% off store pricing. You really can’t beat it.

The Chase on Wednesdays seems to be the sweet spot. New subscribers, welcome. You’re late, but we certainly won’t penalize you for it.

Let’s get running…

Currents 🌊

Nick Sirianni will throw out the first pitch at CBP

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni will throw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Phillies’ home opener tomorrow. First pitch set for 3:05PM.

Kyle Schwarber teams up with Yards Brewing Company

Shams: Players pick Joel Embiid as NBA MVP

Fact Check: True.

Damian Lillard just named Joel Embiid the MVP and we already had Zach LaVine, Anthony Edwards, and several other stars around the NBA cast their vote. Now, it’s up to the writers who have votes to do the right thing.

Bryce Harper was annoyed on Sunday Night Baseball

Trust me, we were too Bryce. ESPN Sunday Night Baseball broadcast is a disaster and they NEED to find something else to talk to players about besides the pitch clock.

The new MLB rules stink but when your team is about to be swept to start the season while your MVP player is out with injury, they shouldn’t be talking about it. Plus, they were asking Trea Turner about his “favorite cheesesteak” while he was in the field playing. Talk about cringe.

Joel Embiid “MVP” Shirts Available Now

Over the weekend, the website crashed because of the launch of the new shop. Appreciate everyone’s patience. We’re back up and running now and all things considered, the site is running significantly better.

Pro Tip: If you break the website, go to Fiverr and pay pennies on the dollar to have someone in fix it for you.

Phans of Philly - Trip to New York

We hit the road on Monday with Phans of Philly to head to the Bronx to watch the Philadelphia Phillies play the New York Yankees.

Phans of Philly chartered seven busses to leave from the NovaCare Complex at 2PM with 300+ Phillies fans, Marinucci’s hoagies, Philly soft pretzels, chips, Miller Lite, and bottled water, to head up to New York for the game that night.

Myself, Brian Cass, Luke Arcaini, and Ryan Conway joined Bus 7, which also included our friends from the City Pigeons Podcast and Dunphy. While the game itself was a huge dud, I promise you, there’s really nothing quite like Phans of Philly and what Joe and his team are able to do for Philadelphia sports fans.

Full recap of the game can be found here. How it ended, with myself and Dunphy getting kicked out, can be viewed at the link below.

The NBA MVP resides in the city of Philadelphia

Joel Embiid officially ended the NBA MVP discussion when he dropped 52 points in a 103-101 win over the Boston Celtics.

The big man went absolutely ballistic, scoring just over half of the 76ers points while missing only five shots all night.

Red October: A Phillies Podcast

After three years of talking about it, The Liberty Line finally recorded Red October: A Phillies Podcast last week to begin the 2023 season.

Throw myself and Luke Arcaini a follow on Twitter. We’ll keep ya posted and if you go Premium (below), we’ll toss in ANOTHER free Phillies t-shirt to get the podcast and season off on the right foot.

Just Ring It Hoodies are beyond sexy.

Eagles Road Trips Incoming

We started Monday with the Philadelphia Phillies and we’re hitting the road this fall with Phans of Philly to make EVERY GAME A HOME GAME this season for the Philadelphia Eagles. We went last year to Arizona and let me tell you, Phans of Philly knows how to throw a party.

The 2023 NFL Schedule will drop May 11th. We’ll see you out there.

Hell Froze Over. I agree with Doc Rivers.
