The Slowest Week of the Year…

February is such an odd month. If you’re lucky, your NFL team makes the super which makes the beginning of the month exciting. Then if you’re unlucky, your team blows a 10-point halftime lead while your basketball team fails to do much of anything at the NBA Trade Deadline leaving you with nothing but highlights from the start of Spring Training while you wish it was warm outside here, sitting at your desk at work wondering if you’ll ever see the sun again.

Pair that with running a sports website where there was so much content to write about leading up to the Super Bowl that you could barely keep up, to now having absolutely nothing to write about while promising everyone a newsletter Monday, Wednesday, Friday with little-to-nothing happening in the world of Philadelphia sports.

That brings us to Wednesday. The first edition of The Chase this week with a ton of new subscribers that are probably wondering what the hell the rest of this email is going to include after such a dark and honestly, sad opening.

18 Days Until Daylight Savings. Let’s get running…👹

Currents 🌊

Trea Turner: Phillies Clubhouse is a Vibe

Trea Turner is already loving the Philadelphia Phillies. He crushed a home run that hit a car in his first batting practice, while everyone is talking shit down in Clearwater.

Looks like the Phillies are ready to complete the “Revenge Tour” in 2023, and thankfully, they’ll do it without “Dancing On My Own” playing on Garrett Stubbs playlist. Why? Because they don’t listen to “second place songs”, obviously.

The John Middleton Revival Continues

It wasn’t too long ago where the entire city of Philadelphia wanted to hang John Middleton from the top of city hall. Now, he spent all last season partying in the stands with Phillies fans while walking the concourse at Citizens Bank Park every night, and he’s dropping quotes like this in regards to spending money and winning a World Series.

The Morning Commute ☕️

I shared this episode of Monetize Media in last week’s edition of The Chase and people really enjoyed it so I’m posting it here again. I had the chance to sit down with Kyle Scott and Jason Ziernicki to talk about the creation of The Liberty Line.

It was a surreal experience given the fact that I grew up reading Kyle Scott on the website he founded, Crossing Broad. Take a listen, maybe you’ll learn something or at the very least, understand all of the hard work that goes into building a website with insane growth in just 3 years time.

Bryce Harper to Alec Bohm: Nothing

We all remember the interaction that Bryce Harper had with Alec Bohm in Game 3 of the World Series.

As it turns out, that interaction was literally nothing.

“Bryce didn’t say anything” according to Alec Bohm, who just happened to hit a first-pitch home run. Harper and Long were yelling at Alec Bohm to come over and Bryce told him to just “stand here for a second” to make it look like he knew what was happening.
