Trea Turner Arrives Fashionably Late to Philly
And people are ready to end Summer early in favor of Fall…?
Listen, I totally understand that this time of month can pull you in a million different directions but to just toss the months aside in favor of colder weather and Fall months prematurely is unacceptable.
Top Reasons Why People Want Fall Months Now:
Parents are ready to send their kids back to school.
Fans sick of just baseball and golf on TV. (not me)
College and NFL football is right around the corner.
Fall decorating
Pumpkin spice lattes
Whatever. That’s fine. You’re all wrong. But that’s fine.
Summer is not over. We still have a month (if not more) of solid weather in the Delaware Valley and I am heading down the shore again later this week to drink for days on end while riding around in a boat on the Indian River Bay in Bethany Beach.
The NFL machine wants you to forget summer and focus on meaningless preseason games while the Phillies are hunting down Red October. Eagles fans (Hello Paul. Go Premium) are obsessing over Tanner McKee and who’s going to earn the QB2 spot behind Jalen Hurts.
Pump the breaks. Your time will come and I highly doubt you’ll be singing the same tune when December hits and it’s zero degrees outside while it will feel like you haven’t seen the sun in YEARS.
Summer is alive and well and the Phillies are looking like World Series contenders yet again. Let’s drive into this week’s edition of THE CHASE, presented by The Liberty Line.

National League East Standings
I honestly don’t even know why I include the National League East standings anymore but for the sake of consistency, we’ll toss em in here until the end of the regular season. The Phillies remain in second place, 12.5 games behind the Atlanta Braves. Cool.
The Hunt for Red October continues in the NL Wild Card
The Phillies now hold a commanding 3.5 game lead in the NL Wild Card following two straight wins against the Giants, who have fallen out of postseason contention in favor of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
I have been saying this for MONTHS on end and I’ll say it again. The tickets to the 2023 MLB postseason can be found by looking at the run differential in the Wild Card standings.

Turner is batting .353 (24-68) with six doubles, four home runs, 14 RBIs, and a 1.007 OPS in 17 games since Phillies fans at Citizens Bank Park gave him multiple standing ovations on August 4th.

Shocker. The Phillies improved to 16-0 when they hit 3+ home runs in a game this year. If only it were always that easy.

James Harden and the very bad 76ers’ offseason
The Philadelphia 76ers Offseason Embarrassment Tour rages on, with the NBA now dishing out a $100K fine to James Harden after he called Daryl Morey a liar last week in China.
Of course, the NBAPA will file a grievance to an arbitrator disputing the NBA’s $100K fine so they clown show will almost certainly continue into the month of September. Hope everyone is having fun!
