Ranger Suarez: Severely Underrated

The Philadelphia Phillies are playing some really good baseball right now. The only problem is that the Atlanta Braves and Miami Marlins continue to win ball games.

Still, there’s a lot to be happy about with baseball in Philadelphia, which is great news as the 76ers continue to drag their entire fanbase (or what’s left of it) through the mud as we head into the summer months of the offseason.

We’ll touch on the current state of the 76ers below. Let’s keep those positive vibes in tact and talk Phillies baseball.

June Fightins’

With only a few games left in June, the Phillies continue to dominate the month and improved to 16-5 since the 2nd after last night’s 5-1 victory against the Chicago Cubs.

Ranger Suarez was on the mound last night and yet again, proved he’s one of the most underrated pitchers in Major League Baseball. He allowed just one run on 4 hits in 7.1 innings of work while striking out 8 Cubs’ batters.

Suarez made 5 starts in the month of June. He’s pitched 33.1 innings with a 1.08 ERA and has allowed a total of four earned runs (one home run) while striking out 33.

Over his past 6 starts, Ranger Suarez is 2-1 with a 1.35 ERA.

Nick Castellanos Comeback SZN

At the plate, the Phillies continue to follow Nick Castellanos lead. Castellanos was 1-for-4 last night as he continues to put together an impressive month, batting .369 with 31 hits, 4 home runs, and 14 RBIs in 21 games.

Castellanos has 9 multi-hit games in June, including four games with 3+ hits. Castellanos is slashing .385/.416/.588 this month. He leads the Phillies in hits, doubles, total bases, RBIs, AVG, OBP, SLG, and OPS.

On the year, he’s batting .312 with 9 home runs and 45 RBI with a .845 OPS.

The Return of Brandon Marsh

Heat Check: Over his last 7 games, Brandon Marsh is now batting .500 with 12 hits, 2 home runs, and 5 RBI in 24 at-bats. He’s on FIRE and it’s pretty safe to say Brandon Marsh is back playing like he did to start the season.

March 30th-May 9th: Marsh batted .317 with four home runs, 16 RBIs, 16 walks, 35 strikeouts and a 1.000 OPS in 121 plate appearances.

May 10th-June 18th: Marsh batted .186 with one home run, 11 RBIs, 12 walks, 48 strikeouts and a .500 OPS in 118 plate appearances.

Last 15 Games: Over his last 15 games Marsh is now batting .333 with 18 hits, 2 home runs and 7 RBI in 54 at-bats.

You can hate Tobias Harris’ contract all you want. I always found it weird people held that against him like he was going to turn down a max contract. Hell, Elton Brand was just dishing them out in the Summer of 2019, I wish he gave me one too.

Also, when did Philadelphia fans become so soft? Who cares of Tobias Harris calls you “casual”. Time to toughen up. The 76ers aren’t doing much to win back faith lost in the fanbase anyways. “Running it Back” with James Harden, Tobias Harris, Tyrese Maxey, and Joel Embiid sounds like a horrible plan to begin with, right?

We have all watched that movie before and it wasn’t a good one. Why watch it again? Yes, I’ll admit that once the season begins, I’ll be back on board but it’s really hard to put much weight on the Sixers right now. Sorry.
