Welcome to Hell: Eagles Drop Third-Straight as They Enter Free Fall

Bad turnovers, bad penalties, bad game. The Eagles have no answers.

In partnership with

The Chase continues. The Eagles have hit a full-on free fall, dropping their third straight in a 22-19 overtime loss to the Chargers — a game the defense dominated with seven sacks and three takeaways, and Saquon Barkley finally broke 100 yards, but none of it mattered because the offense once again imploded.

Jalen Hurts turned the ball over five times, AJ Brown’s drops killed drives (including a touchdown), and the same self-inflicted mistakes that have defined the past month showed up yet again. At 8-5 with four games left, the Eagles are clinging to the NFC East race, searching for answers, and staring down a Raiders matchup that suddenly feels like a must-win to keep the season from fully unraveling.

Let’s get into it.

🌊 THE CURRENTS

  1. JALEN HURTS IS SPIRALING. The Eagles should’ve given Tanner McKee the second half against the Chargers — not to replace Jalen Hurts long-term, but to either spark the offense or finally diagnose what’s actually broken. Hurts’ turnovers were catastrophic, the offense was lifeless, and inserting McKee could’ve revealed whether the problem is the quarterback or the coaching. Instead, the Eagles passed on a chance for clarity, accountability, and maybe even a spark—and now they’re sleepwalking into another late-season collapse. All things Eagles here.

  2. SCHWARBER RETURNS. Kyle Schwarber is staying in Philadelphia on a five-year, $150 million deal—the richest AAV ever for a DH—ending weeks of uncertainty and letting the Phillies finally move forward with their offseason. After a monster 56-homer, 132-RBI season and an NL MVP runner-up finish, Schwarber had heavy interest from multiple teams, but the Phillies were never letting their slugger walk. Philly keeps its heartbeat, its leadoff masher, and a cornerstone for the next half-decade. All things Phillies here.

  3. STOP THE SIXERS DRONES. NBCS Philly somehow made a close Sixers-Lakers game even harder to watch by flying a cheap-looking drone around the arena, turning an already weak broadcast into a full-on circus. The timing was awful, the footage looked like it was shot on a 2008 flip cam, and paired with Kate Scott and Alaa Abdenaby’s relentlessly corny commentary, the whole thing was unbearable. Not every technological “innovation” needs to exist—especially one that makes the viewing experience noticeably worse. All things Sixers here.

  4. WHAT’S TRENDING. The Chargers’ Twitter admin went absolutely nuclear after their 22-19 win over the Eagles, dropping banger after banger while Philly fans were still processing Jalen Hurts’ five turnovers and AJ Brown’s costly drops. As much as it pains us to admit, the Chargers cooked online, and all you can really do is laugh while the Eagles stumble into a must-win stretch with their season hanging by a thread.
